Tall Ships Set Sail for Nova Scotia

In the summer of 2017 Nova Scotia in Atlantic Canada will welcome the arrival of 40 Tall Ships to its harbours for the Rendez-vous Tall Ships Regatta 2017.

To celebrate the 150th anniversary of the Confederation of Canada, the ships will dock in the Maritime Province during a series of nautical races across the Atlantic, sailing for five months, between the 13th April – 3rd September 2017, and covering an incredible 7,000 miles from their origin in Royal Greenwich, London.

The symbolic spectacle is an impressive feat and summer 2017 is the perfect time to visit the Province and witness the ships during their race between seven countries, arriving in Nova Scotia on the 4th August 2017. The ships will travel to 11 ports around Nova Scotia, including the picturesque coastal town of Lunenburg and the Province’s capital Halifax, giving thousands of locals and lucky tourists the opportunity to admire their sheer beauty before continuing the journey on the 16th August with a sail past in Annapolis Royal.

2017 marks 150 years since the Confederation of Canada, following meetings that took place in the neighbouring Province of Prince Edward Island; an agreement signed on the 1st July 1867. In addition to the Tall Ships, and a wealth of confederation history, visitors to Nova Scotia can take in the rich marine life and breath-taking scenery across the Province, including whale watching in the Bay of Fundy, hiking the highlands in Cape Breton Highlands National Park and wining and dining their way along Nova Scotia’s culinary trails.

The Tall Ships will also be travelling to Nova Scotia’s neighbouring Provinces New Brunswick, Newfoundland and Labrador and Prince Edward Island. They will dock in a number of ports including Saint John, New Brunswick’s largest city, Corner Brook located on the west coast of Newfoundland and Labrador and the capital of Prince Edward Island, Charlottetown.
