New flights into Atlantic Canada in 2015
Atlantic Canada includes the provinces of New Brunswick, Newfoundland and Labrador, Nova Scotia and Prince Edward Island and in 2015, UK travellers have a host of flights and routes to choose from to access the region famed for its natural beauty, stunning coastline, friendly people, incredible seafood, UNESCO World Heritage sites and National Parks.
Newfoundland and Labrador
Direct flights are available from the UK to St. John’s International Airport in Newfoundland and Labrador. In addition, there are regional connections from Nova Scotia and other Canadian provinces to both St. John’s International Airport and Gander International Airport.
In the winter months (October – April), Air Canada’s Heathrow – St. John’s route will operate thrice weekly; on Monday, Thursday and Saturday. From May until the end of October, the airline will operate a daily flight from London Heathrow.
New for summer 2015, Canadian Affair’s airline arm, Air Transat has announced a new direct flight from London Gatwick to St. John’s which will start on 18 June 2015, departing London on Tuesday and Thursday and returning on Monday and Wednesday. The flight will then continue on to Nova Scotia’s Halifax Stanfield International Airport. The new flight will continue throughout the summer until 3 September 2015.
Canadian Airline WestJet launched a new summer route from Dublin, Ireland in 2014 and it has recently been announced that the airline will continue the route in 2015. The daily flight will connect Dublin to St. John’s from 2 May 2015 to 24 October 2015.
Nova Scotia
Nova Scotia’s Halifax Stanfield International Airport has exciting new developments for 2015 and is the main air access points for the Maritime Provinces of New Brunswick, Nova Scotia and Prince Edward Island.
The province receives a direct, year-round, daily Air Canada flight from London Heathrow.
New for 2015, WestJet will operate a daily direct flight from Glasgow into Halifax from 29 May until 23 October which is great news for travellers located in the north of England and of course Scotland.
Europe Airpost will also operate a weekly summer flight originating in Paris, stopping in Dublin and continuing to Halifax each Friday from 10 July 2015 – 11 September 2015.
The province also benefits from an indirect summer route operated by Icelandair which goes via Reykjavik in Iceland from various UK airports including Heathrow, Gatwick, Glasgow and Birmingham.
New Brunswick and Prince Edward Island
Most visitors from the UK will access New Brunswick through the neighbouring province of Nova Scotia with connecting flights to Fredericton, Saint John or Moncton airports, or a short drive from the Halifax Stanfield International Airport. For a two-nation vacation, some visitors make the scenic drive from New England in the USA. New Brunswick will be reaping the benefits of Nova Scotia’s new connectivity in 2015.
To access Prince Edward Island, travellers can take a quick connecting flight to the Charlottetown Airport or make the two and a half hour drive from Halifax Stanfield International Airport, arriving in PEI via the Confederation Bridge or take the ferry from Caribou in Nova Scotia.
