Prince Edward Island’s Coastal Adventures

Canada’s smallest and only island province offers an abundance of exploration whether travellers fancy a seaside drive along the north west of the Island, catching the freshest seafood with a local fisherman, creating auburn sandcastle sculptures, or dancing the night away with a world-class musician on his lobster fishing boat. Prince Edward Island is a hidden gem waiting to be explored when borders reopen.

NOT JUST FOR KIDS:

Learn how to build sensational sandcastles with a professional sand sculptor. Known for its beautiful sandy beaches Prince Edward Island is the perfect destination to learn how to build an epic sandcastle. During this two-hour class at Cabot Beach Provincial Park on the Island’s beautiful north shore guests will be taught by local artist and professional sand sculptor, Maurice Bernard, how to sculpt the ultimate sandcastle. With sculpting equipment provided, all that is needed is a swimsuit, sun cream and a bit of imagination to make for the idyllic family day out. The Sensational Sandcastles tour takes place from June to September and starts from £34 per person.

ROAD TRIP WITH A SEA VIEW:

Take a coastal road trip along the North Cape. North Cape Coastal Drive features some of the province’s most diverse experiences and adventures. Following the winding roads around the coast and taking in the breathtakingly pretty vistas, road-trippers can take their time on this looped route stopping off at the inviting city of Summerside along the way. With its pretty tree-lined streets, exquisite seafood restaurants and lively waterfront boardwalk, Summerside is the perfect place to relax, dine and people watch. To connect with a more cultural side of the Island, the Abram-Village is a great place to soak in the coastal scenery and Acadian culture with traditional Acadian food and music at the Village Musical Acadien. No trip to Prince Edward Island’s north west would be complete without checking out the Canadian Potato Museum in O’Leary which celebrates the eponymous world-famous potato – the Potato Kitchen is a must. The loop also takes in West Point Lighthouse and travellers can climb the 72 steps to enjoy the coastal views and crashing waves from the lantern deck. With a multitude of possibilities on the route, from finding Prince Edward Island’s famous Malpeque Oysters, dining in trendy restaurants, indulging in pretty tea houses or simply sunbathing on pristine beaches, the North Cape Coastal Drive has plenty to suit all appetites.

SAIL, STOMP AND FEAST:
