Vote for the Bay of Fundy in the New7Wonders of Nature and Experience the Freedom of the Road in Atlantic Canada – August 2011
Looking for that perfect, relaxing autumn break? Head to the provinces of Atlantic Canada for their unbeatable combination of natural wonders, fabulous seafood and fine weather.
Nowhere in the world can you get as up close and personal with Mother Nature as in the Bay of Fundy. On Canada’s east coast, between the provinces of New Brunswick and Nova Scotia, 100 billion tonnes of seawater flow in and out of the 180-mile-long bay – twice a day! The tides rise and fall by as much as 50 feet – making them the highest in the world!
But there’s more to the region than this natural phenomenon. In New Brunswick’s best hotels and restaurants, caviar is on the menu. Not just any caviar, but locally-produced caviar. A rare species of sturgeon has been re-introduced to the Saint John River, a tributary of the Bay of Fundy; so New Brunswick is now producing one of the world’s great gourmet treats.
Also new, but less expensive, is a thrilling new zip line ride at the Cape Enrage Interpretive Centre. Strap on a helmet, buckle on the harness, click on to the steel wire and off you go – zooming at 20mph for over 600 feet. Fantastic views over the Bay of Fundy are guaranteed!
No wonder visitors are flocking to the Bay of Fundy. Many are drawn by the New7Wonders of Nature competition to decide the most amazing natural places on earth. The Bay of Fundy is one of only 28 finalists around the world – and one of only two in North America. If you haven’t voted yet, go to www.votemyfundy.com. The closing date for entries is November 11, 2011.
